Gramona Gran Cuvee 2007 - new look, lower dosage
March 19, 2010
From the simple aging process inside a single bottle to the overall evolution of vintages, wines have lives of their own. Beginning with the 2007 vintage, Gramona Gran Cuvee took big steps in its evolution. What was a delightfully bright, young and fruity Cava has matured to a have a drier, more elegant and polished profile. The Cava was achieved by aging part of the base wine in French oak barrels for 12 months before secondary fermentation. Following "le nouvelle vague" movement in Grower Champagne, the dosage has been reduced to 5 grams per liter. To match its new, sophisticated flavor profile, Gran Cuvee was given an image makeover. Together with Eric Solomon, Gramona created an attractive package that exemplifies its evolution. Below is the new label that represents the refined Gran Cuvee.

Janasse in the New York Times
December 8, 2009
This week's New York Times article by Eric Asimov featured a tasting of 10 wines from the now legendary 2007 vintage in Chaetauneuf-du-Pape - we are pleased (but not surprised of course) that Domaine de la Janasse came out at the top of the heap with what Asimov described as "plenty of powerfully ripe, lush fruit...yet its balance was impeccable." Mas Doix Salanques - Wine Spectator Top 100
November 20, 2009
Congratulations to Mas Doix for their inclusion on the Wine Spectator Top 100 list this year! The 2005 Salanques is ranked #53 with the following notes: "A plush texture carries rich flavors of brandied cherry, dark chocolate, cocoa and mountain herbs in this expressive red. The tannins are firm but well-integrated, and the finish is bright and juicy." It is the only wine from the Priorat on the list. For a complete listing, please click HERE

Lest month the Wine Enthusiast featured two wines from the European Cellars portfolio in their "Spain's 10 Best Wines" feature. MIchael Schachner says of the Gramona III Lustros Cava, "this wine comes as close to replicating fine Champagne as you will find in Spain." Pazo Senorans Albarino was also selected - "a leader in terms of purity and pizzazz." Click the link above for the full article.
